Couch to 5K Training

We’ve had an incredible response to the CSC Couch to 5K group, which kicked off just a couple of weeks ago. Initially, about 15 people showed interest in joining, and since then, we’ve welcomed even more runners. Everyone is free to do their training runs at their own pace, but there’s also the option to meet up for a group run once a week. These usually take place on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm at Chalgrave Memorial Hall.

We’ve also set up a private Facebook group for everyone taking part in the Couch to 5K programme. It’s not only where we announce group runs, but it also serves as a space for people to share their progress, ask questions, seek advice or motivation, and update us on how they’re doing. Joining in the discussions is highly encouraged – research shows that people are more likely to succeed when they’re part of a supportive group rather than going it alone.

It’s truly inspiring to see such a diverse mix of people embarking on their journey to run 5K. We’re looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible “graduate” by completing the 5K Houghton Hall Park Run at the end of the 9-week programme – which would be an amazing achievement, and who knows, there might even be medals! It’s also wonderful to see encouraging comments from past participants who still run regularly, sharing the physical, mental, and mindfulness benefits they’ve gained through regular running.

Remember, it’s never too late to start! If you’re reading this and thinking it might be something you’d like to do, why not come and join us?
