Yoga

Join us for a rejuvenating yoga experience at Chalgrave Memorial Hall, Tebworth, where Chalgrave Sports Club hosts regular classes on Saturday mornings and Monday evenings. Led by Rachel, a certified and experienced yoga instructor (RYT-200), the class will help you improve your strength, muscular definition, balance, and flexibility, regardless of your experience level. Although yoga may be slower-paced than other fitness classes, your body will still feel the benefit from regular training. Yoga classes are a brilliant full-body workout.

Under Rachel’s expert guidance, you’ll learn to cultivate strength, flexibility, and inner peace through a range of postures and breathing exercises. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, these classes are suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or ability.

We are also happy to accommodate those who may have restricted mobility or have difficulty with balance. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that’s done while seated, or by using a chair for balance, making the classes more accessible and inclusive.

Rachel has undertaken specialist training which allows her to adapt yoga for all abilities, seamlessly integrating chair support for those with limited mobility. Whether yoga is done in a chair or on the mat, the class still focuses on the same core principles.

Expect a welcoming and friendly environment where you can unwind, relax, and have fun with like-minded individuals. You don’t need to be a CSC member to attend, but members do get exclusive discounts. We’ll provide all the necessary equipment, so all you need to bring is yourself and maybe a bottle of water. Come and join us on a journey towards a healthier, happier you!

The classes last one hour and cost £3.00 for CSC members or £5.00 for non-members. Payment can be made on the day by cash, bank transfer, or card/contactless.

Through the club’s partnership with CBC Active Communities we have been able to subsidise the cost of the yoga to benefit the local community and encourage everyone to get involved and be more active. It has also allowed us to introduce the new Monday evening classes that will run in addition to the regular Saturday sessions. We are grateful to Central Bedfordshire Council for their support.

Why You Should Try Yoga

What is yoga, and why is it so popular? Yoga is a series of stretches and poses that you do with breathing techniques. It offers the powerful benefits of exercise, and since yoga is gentle, almost anyone can do it, regardless of your age or fitness level. Yoga is a 5,000-year-old discipline from India. It was developed as a practice to unite the mind and body. There are many branches of yoga. All yoga styles can help balance your body, mind, and spirit, but they achieve it in various ways. Some yoga styles are intense and vigorous. Others are relaxing and meditative. No matter which type you choose, yoga is a great way to stretch and strengthen your body, focus your mind, and relax your spirit.

Benefits of yoga

Yoga can make you stronger and more flexible. It’s a great way to stay limber and energetic. You’ll also feel more focused and alert. And yoga can help you feel great and function better in your daily life. Yoga can also help improve these conditions: Poor blood circulation, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, limited mobility, lower back pain, trouble breathing, headaches, tension or stress, depression.

Yoga’s gentle movements are a big reason for why it’s so popular. Yoga is good for people who haven’t been active in a while. It’s good for people who have certain health conditions like arthritis or osteoporosis. You can change the exercises to fit your needs. Yoga is also great if you’re already fit and want a challenging workout, or to stretch out tight muscles. As you become more strong and flexible with yoga, it’s easier to do other kinds of exercise like running, dancing, walking, or swimming.

Although you don’t need to be a CSC member to attend any of our events or activities, members do benefit from discounted entry.
