Whether your passion is cycling, swimming, cold water swimming, running, walking, or even introducing newcomers to fitness through initiatives like a “Couch to 5K” program, we’re excited to support you. Chalgrave Sports Club is committed to offering assistance, providing resources, and creating an enabling environment for you to lead your group successfully. By spearheading a local sports group, you’ll be creating opportunities for others in the community to participate, stay fit, and develop a love for sports. At Chalgrave Sports Club, we value the participation of everyone in our community, including children, in our events and activities. However, it is important to us that these experiences remain safe, secure, and enjoyable for all attendees.
Therefore, we kindly request that all children under the age of 18 who participate or attend our events and activities must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or an adult guardian at all times. This is to ensure their safety and welfare, as well as to provide them with the guidance they may require during these activities.
Please understand that we do not offer childcare services, and our activity leaders and volunteers are not equipped to monitor unattended children. If a child is found to be unsupervised during any of our events or activities, we will seek out their parent or guardian or may ask them to leave.

At Chalgrave Sports Club, we have a range of group activities that our members can participate in, including but not limited to, running, walking, and cycling. Group activities like these provide opportunities for physical exercise, social interaction, and the enjoyment of the great outdoors.
However, due to the inherent nature of these activities, it can be challenging for us to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment that would cover every possible scenario that could occur. While we do everything within our means to make these activities safe and enjoyable, it is important to recognise the element of unpredictability involved in such outdoor pursuits.
Our group leaders play a crucial role in maintaining the safety of our group activities. They are well versed in the rules and guidelines of each activity, and they always strive to keep all participants as safe as possible. However, it is essential to note that these group sessions are led, not coached. This means that while our leaders are there to guide the group, they may not always be able to provide personalised, professional coaching advice or supervision during the activities.
Even if a qualified coach attends a session, their role is not to provide individual instruction or supervision; they are there as a participant just like everyone else.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon each participant to understand that they are ultimately responsible for their own safety during these activities. We encourage everyone to participate within their abilities, to be aware of their surroundings at all times, and to take any necessary precautions to protect themselves, such as wearing appropriate safety gear and hydrating properly.
We also strongly advise all participants to inform the group leader of any personal health issues or concerns they may have before partaking in any activities. In doing so, you can help ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for yourself and others.
