Social Events

CSC organises a number of social events throughout the year, some of which are to raise funds for the club or other good causes, while other events are purely social, encouraging local people to get together, socialise, and have fun, in a friendly and welcoming environment. Our events are inclusive and open to everyone (you don’t have to be a CSC Member) and we will always try and accommodate any special needs or requests. Upcoming events are listed below as well as reports and photos from past events.

Fundraising

We usually hold two big fundraising events each year, typically in April and October. The funds raised are used to enable the club to provide subsidised activities to the local community and to allow donations to be made to other good causes such as schools. CSC are keen to encourage and provide opportunities for children to participate in sporting activities to help their physical and mental wellbeing.

Quiz Nights

The club have held a number of very successful family fun Quiz Nights. Although it is great to win, the emphasis on these nights is very much about having fun, no matter where you finish. There are questions to suit all ages and abilities, with each round containing questions aimed at different generations, giving young and old alike the opportunity to score some points. Some of the rounds also have a visual or audio element up on the big screen to keep it interesting, with the music and theme tunes always very popular. Although we have considered other food options to bring the ticket price down, the freshly cooked fish & chips (as good as you will find anywhere) are a firm favourite and one of the reasons people particularly enjoy the night.

Race Nights

Another event that is always popular is our Race Nights which are suitable for all the family. These feature a number of pre-recorded races, where the commentator first gives a humorous form guide (has no bearing on which horse actually wins) and then you can purchase a £1 tote ticket for the horse number that you think will win the race. Once the tote is closed, the race starts and the shouting and cheering usually begins. If you hold a tote ticket for the winning horse number, you win a share of the tote prize fund. This happens for each of the 8 or so races that take place through the evening. Horse, racing, or betting knowledge is of absolutely no use to you whatsoever, it is all down to luck! Like the Quiz Night, the ticket price includes a very tasty, freshly cooked fish & chip supper.

Social Events

We also aim to put on a number of smaller social events each year, such as dinner & drinks, or something sport related such as 10-Pin bowling, Top Golf etc., or attending a sporting event. We are always open to new ideas and suggestions, so if you have something in mind, or would be interested in organising something, please do get in touch with us.
