CSC member and 5th year veterinary student Libby Gatward will be taking part in the UKCE Peaks Tour Sportive on 2 September 2023. The cycling event starts in Bakewell and takes the riders on a 74k ride across the Peaks. In true Peak District fashion there are some short, savage as well as long, enduring climbs along the route, with almost 4,000 feet of ascent in total to be completed.
Libby will be taking part with some of her veterinary student colleagues who are part of the university cycling club SBABES (Sutton Bonington Adventure Biking Enthusiast Society).
They are taking on the challenge to help to raise money for Vets in the Community, which is a charity run by Nottingham Vet School, that provides free veterinary care to pets belonging to the homeless and vulnerably housed people of Nottingham. The clinics are mostly run by students at the Vet School, under supervision from experienced, qualified members of staff. The care of the animals is funded entirely by donations. Any donations to them in sponsorship of Libby’s cycling challenge would be very gratefully received. Full details can be found on the Vets in the Community Just Giving page.
Good luck with challenge Libby, from all at CSC!
