London Marathon Walkers 2021

CSC members Simon Gatward & Paul Levy rolled back the years to complete the 2021 Virtual London Marathon. The 41st London Marathon was pushed back from its usual April date to October, and for the first time allowed participants to either follow the traditional route through the streets of London or take part in the virtual event where you complete the 26.2 miles on a route of your own choosing. Simon and Paul opted to walk the Grand Union Canal, starting in Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire, and heading south through Buckinghamshire and into Bedfordshire, finishing 27 miles later at the Grove Lock Pub in Leighton Buzzard.

They completed the walk in under 9 hours, although despite walking the whole way together, both manged to record different finishing times!

It was Simon & Paul’s first (and probably last!) London Marathon and they both walked to raise money for the RNIB, collecting almost £1500 for this great cause. Well done to both Paul & Simon.
