Chairman’s report from the Chalgrave Sports Club Annual General Meeting, held on 09 April 2025:

It has been another active year for the Club. I am pleased to note that we have increased membership.
We recently ran our second Go Kart evening. It was a successful evening. Although it was eventually a sellout, we did struggle to fill all the places so we will need to decide if we are going to run this event again.
Despite our best efforts we were unable to have a Golf Day in the past year. Hopefully we can organise one in the coming year.
For the first time we ran a 10-pin bowling evening. This worked well and we are planning a further session in June.
The yoga classes are continuing and currently run until July. The classes are making a loss financially and if we cannot grow the classes to make them self-sustainable, we will need to make a decision to continue them or not. We are looking for grants to help towards the continuation of the sessions.
On the first Saturday of the month, we fly the Club flag at the Houghton Hall Parkrun -and several members have run the 5K.
Mike Jackson has led the Clubs first Couch to 5K training programme. It was a success with 7people graduating including our committee member Debbie Levy. Mike is leading another training programme starting at the end of this month.
We had our annual Dinner at the Chequers in Westoning – both the food and service were excellent, a marked difference from the previous year at the Fancott. It was a pleasure to award MAD 2024 medals at this event to Mike, Amanda, Roy, Linda, Kevin and Simon. All of the winners are taking part in MAD 2025, and Amanda, Mike, Simon and Kevin are well on their way to MAD 1000, along with Roy and Linda who are now in their second year.
We made a donation to Parkfields Middle School to help fund golf sessions at Tilsworth helping pupils to build confidence and relationships.
I hope we continue to expand our sports offering to that end we encourage the community to put forward new activities that we will try to organise.
We look forward to another great year – starting with our Quiz Night at the end of this month. The popularity of the quiz is proved by the fact that this is near to a sellout event. The Quiz Night is a real team event involving all the Committee – and our supportive friends – Lesley, Su, Fiona, Mandy, Vicky, Gabe, Libby and others. Finally, my thanks go to all the Committee members for their hard work over the year.
