CSC Go-Kart Grand Prix Report
On February 28th, Chalgrave Sports Club took over the indoor track at TeamSport in Dunstable for an epic go-karting showdown – and what a night it was! With the entire circuit to ourselves, 15 fearless racers (plus Phil), suited up, ready to channel their inner Lewis Hamilton (or at least try).

Now, let’s be honest, we kind of knew who’d be on pole position, but the real drama was in the battle for 2nd to 15th. As predicted, in the qualifying session Louie Lawrence stormed to the front taking pole position, while our beloved club chairman, Phil “The Speed” Parry, took on the noble role of tail-end hero.
On to the race proper and once the green flag dropped, it was game on. Early disaster struck for race favourite Louie as his kart decided to eject its drive belt, forcing a red flag, a mid-race pit stop, and an unanticipated kart swap. Yet, like a true champion, he fought back through the pack to claim a very creditable 3rd place – now that’s determination! In the end, the podium places went to:
🥇1st Place – Sam Hicks (speedy and consistent)
🥈2nd Place – Jason Bridges (gave Sam a run for his money)
🥉3rd Place – Louie Lawrence (fought back despite a mechanical setback)
And what about last place? Well, Phil “The Speed” Parry lived up to his nickname (sort of) but very proudly clocked a sub-one-minute lap – a 57 second personal best! Let’s just gloss over the fact that the fastest lap was 39 seconds, and the second slowest person was still 14 seconds quicker that Phil… details, details.
Huge thanks to everyone who came along – it was an absolute blast, and we’re already gearing up for next year’s rematch. We hope to see you on the track next time.
Thank you to John Parker for the race report and to Millie Parker for the photos and videos.
